Wicor Primary School enjoys new covered outdoor space.

At Wicor Primary School, we were able to integrate a large storage/ play hut into an extensive timber and polycarbonate canopy. Because the storage unit shared the shelters’ translucent roof, it has provided a pleasant and light space within.

This is another example of how our years of experience and imaginative design know-how, enables us to create functional, attractive yet affordable spaces. Please give us a call on 01730 231866 to discuss any projects you have in mind.

New play area for Ripley Court School.

ripley courtSun and Shade are very proud of their new play area designed for Ripley Court school. The school had two play areas for the pre-prep school on different levels and our brief was to come up with a solution to unify the two areas. Our solution? We designed from scratch a timber play structure in the lower playground that led directly via a raised walkway to the upper playground. Simple yet great fun! The entire area, including a sloping bank, was covered in our quite brilliant bonded rubber mulch, an affordable recycled safer surfacing.

Stunning new outdoor classroom at Badshot Lea.

Badshot 3 for news Badshot for newsWith imagination and experience, we are able to create inspiring yet affordable environments. Picking up architectural references from the school building (here the roofing detail has been echoed in the canopy rafters), together with imagery from the schools logo, we were able to create a cohesive and striking covered space for the school.

The Brit School Update

cutoutThey have proved such a success that The Brit School have recently taken delivery of their third batch of tables! Shown here, this third genesis of the table has allowed us to further refine the design, reducing material usage and also the price, making this very resilient product even more affordable in these difficult times.

Hordle Walhampton Pre-Prep

This is a good example of how we can design and manufacture a project from start to finish. The area has been transformed into a spacious and sensory feature for children to play.

Before:

The project entailed:

A Roman shelter with durable polycarbonate roofing

A colourful bench wrapped around a Yew tree

Multiple types of surfacing; from a fine grade of Rubber Mulch to Wet Pour, Artificial Turf and Flagstones

Second part of the project:

A bespoke sand & water play unit

Fencing and flower box

Have a look at the school’s lovely write up:

We have since filmed an ad at Hordle, and are looking forward to sharing the results on You Tube!

Speacilists in Surfacing

Specialists in durable, low maintenance surfaces, we are particularly excited about a fine grain, bonded Rubber Mulch. It is well suited for pathways, whether used in an educational setting, commercial venue or golf clubs.

This is why we recommend bonded rubber mulch:

  • Easy to maintain (simply hose down or sweep) and say goodbye to weeds
  • Permeable surface quickly drains away moisture
  • Cost effective because it can be laid directly onto grass (most EPDMs/WetPour need to be laid down onto a hard surface)
  • Finer grade helps to provide durability for cleats & buggies
  • Recycled forklift tyres are used to prevent chemicals leeching into the soil
  • A range of colours can be mixed to your specification, offering an attractive and natural appearance
  • Ten-year guarantee – A thin layer can easily repair any fading or damage
  • Low freezing point, so surface frost can be swept off to avoid slippage
  • Tidies up areas with trees and allows for growth

The bonded rubber mulch has a range of colours

(The large grain) offers an attractive and natural appearance:

(The finer grain) option is equally attractive and very durable:

If you have an area that would benefit from a Rubber Mulch surface, give us a call to see some samples and discuss our products more in depth:(01730) 231 866

We will be happy to help!

The BRIT School Octagonal Tables.

Octagonal Table and seating.

The BRIT School, Britain’s only free Performing Arts and Technology School, have found the eight octagonal table and seating pods we provided for them so successful that they are looking to increase their numbers around the school. Designed to be disassembled into to halves to facilitate moving, yet heavy enough to dissuade the burliest of sticky fingers, each table will comfortably seat eight people. This unique and contemporary design is equally at home on grass as on hard surfacing, and where damp conditions exist, each unit can be linked via timber walkways to create a series of islands. On uneven ground, adjustable pads are available to level each table and a wheelchair accessible version is available.
