We believe that the successful design of any space should maximise physical comfort and well-being and demonstrate environmental responsibility. It should ideally serve the community, delivering spaces that work better, last longer, cost less to maintain, and inspire and adapt to changing needs.
We aim to create dynamic, flexible and versatile places which are well-organised, and as far as possible integrate the indoor-outdoor environment.
Taking a modular approach to construction allows us to create bespoke yet affordable spaces, producing a solid long-lasting ‘framework’ that enables each space to develop, adapt and evolve.
Within the school environment, we have learnt over the years that less is more in terms of providing a vehicle for a child’s developing imagination. At Sun and Shade our philosophy is to take a non-prescriptive stance toward the designing of each unique space, allowing room for the development of imaginative play.
Incorporating both standard and specially designed elements such as sensory spaces, musical areas, play structures, sand and water play, imaginative and adventure play opportunities, as well as quiet areas, incorporating for example, a story-telling chair, our aim is to provide environments which help children become resilient, capable, confident, self-assured individuals.
